Preparing for Irrigation Season

Image

This week, I visited the Yakima-Tieton Irrigation Canal and heard firsthand from county and district officials on the work being done to repair and replace the canal.

Our farmers and landowners rely on the canal, and we need long-term solutions with permanent repairs to sustain this critical piece of infrastructure for our region.

I led my Washington State Congressional delegation colleagues in a letter to the Secretary of Interior, Doug Burgum, requesting emergency assistance for the irrigation district.

Keeping the Ag Industry's Wheels Turning

On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to visit Western States CAT and hear about their efforts in supporting our regions agricultural industry.

The equipment and services they provide enhance productivity and ensure our farmers and ranchers have the resources they need.

I appreciated them taking the time to give me a tour of their facility and for all of their hard work!

Addressing Rural Healthcare Challenges with Astria Health

ImageToday I met with Astria Toppenish Hospital and discussed the critical health care services they provide to the Valley and the Yakama Nation.

The work of their dedicated staff and health care providers is paramount to our rural communities and I am committed to preserving their ability to continuing to serve Central Washington.

Charting the Future of Washington Trade

Image

This week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Washington Council on International Trade Summit.
I spoke about the importance of enforcing fair and reciprocal trade agreements between the EU, Canada, and China.
Strong trade promotion policies is essential for farm country, and the U.S. economy as a whole. As a farmer, I understand how important the state of Washington's products are to global supply chains and how critical it is that our agriculture, manufacturing, and retail producers are well-positioned in the global economy.
Firsthand Look at Washington's Trade Infrastructure

Image

On Monday, I joined local stakeholders and industry leaders at the Port of Seattle to hear about our states strong import and export industry.

Washington state is home to one of the largest export economies in the country with over 40% of jobs being supported by international trade.

I look forward to hearing more about the growing economic opportunities our port is creating for the PNW and will continue to support their efforts in maintaining our state as a global leader in trade.
