Dear Washingtonians,
The start of spring brought exciting new opportunities for DC families and businesses: We launched most.dc.gov, a new portal to connect more kids to after-school activities. With DCPS and Monumental Sports & Entertainment, we kicked off District Dribble and started the process of distributing 29,000 basketballs to every DCPS elementary school student. And at DMPED's March Madness, our annual celebration of upcoming economic opportunities in DC, we published the latest Green Book and made an exciting announcement about the future of Poplar Point.
Of course, with spring also comes one of our city’s favorite and most beautiful traditions—The National Cherry Blossom Festival. Each year, the festival – which started yesterday and continues through mid-April – draws in millions of visitors to our city, brings a boost to our local economy, and generates excitement across the city.
It’s a beautiful time of year and an exciting opportunity to showcase the Washington, DC we know and love. Visitors get to see and experience our #1 ranked park system, our world-class public transit system, our fantastic restaurants – many of which have cherry blossom specials, and so much more. And when they leave, they take their experiences with them, helping us share the story of the real DC with the world.
And while the Cherry Blossom Festival is an international event, it is also a hometown celebration, with cherry blossoms blooming and . I hope you will find some time to enjoy the blossoms this spring.

The 2025 Green Book is live! For nearly a decade, the Green Book has helped leverage the District’s procurement power by providing DC business owners with an agency-by-agency overview of upcoming opportunities and guidance on how to pursue them. This year, with a record $1.4 billion procurement goal, the Green Book will continue to help Certified Business Enterprises (CBEs) and Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) compete for government contracts and keep more local dollars in DC.

DC families can now easily find and register for afterschool and summer programs with the new My Out of School Time DC (MOST-DC) portal! This one-stop platform allows families to search for programs by school, home address, cost, and grade level, helping them find the best fit for their children and teens. The portal brings together options for students in kindergarten through 12th grade and is integrated with the DCPS school enrollment system, allowing the portal to validate student eligibility automatically. Check it out at most.dc.gov.
Additionally, families can explore summer options at the Summer in the City resource fair on Saturday, March 29 at the MLK Jr. Memorial Library. Learn more at SITC2025.eventbrite.com.
