CCATDP Update

2020 has been a difficult year for our nation, and the impacts of the crises we've faced have been especially felt in the communities we serve.

Our government continues to kill innocent Americans on our streets, in their homes, and on death row. Our justice system is overrun with racial injustice. It is utterly broken and has failed to uphold the protection of our rights, liberty, and access to opportunity that the United States was founded upon, values we fight to protect.

But the tide is turning. Over the past week, I have witnessed an outpouring of deep concern on the right over the cases of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Christian Cooper, and George Floyd. The nation is coming to the consensus that criminal justice reform is imperative, and that racism continues to grip our nation. Many conservatives have spoken out forcefully, and I believe we will continue to see more and more fight against systematic racial injustice.

In the midst of tragedy, we have also seen triumph. New CCATDP chapters were launched in Wyoming and Ohio, we were a part of repealing the death penalty in Colorado, and the majority of executions scheduled for 2020 have been cancelled. I hope these victories will serve as reminders to all of you, as they have me, that justice can and will prevail.

We will continue to fight for the sanctity of human life, for the foundational principles of individual liberty, and justice for all. Never has that work been more urgent or more important, and we hope you will continue to support us in it.

Toward justice,
Hannah
