TRUMP ADMINISTRATION EXTRADITING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT WHO KILLED SARAH ROOT BACK TO THE UNITED STATES I thank President Trump and Secretary Rubio for extraditing the illegal immigrant who killed Sarah Root nearly a decade ago back to the United States. This is a day that the Root family has long waited for, and now, this vicious criminal will face the consequences of his actions. With President Trump’s signature of Sarah’s Law earlier this year, illegal immigrants who harm or kill Americans will be detained without bail and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law — as they should be. Evading accountability is no longer an option. Justice for Sarah Root - United States Department of State President Trump has never forgotten or stopped fighting for justice after Sarah Root was tragically murdered in 2016 by an illegal alien who was driving under the influence and became a fugitive from justice. Today, nine years after Sarah's passing the night of her college graduation, her parents will know that their tireless advocacy was [...] Read More RECOGNIZING AND THANKING IOWA'S FARMERS AND PRODUCERS DURING NATIONAL AGRICULTURE WEEK As we wrap up National Agriculture Week, I want to thank Iowa’s hardworking farmers and producers for their commitment to feeding and fueling our country and the world. These men and women work long hours, help power our economy forward, and make important contributions that keep our rural communities strong. To support our producers and their families, I am working to pass a five-year Farm Bill, open new export markets for Iowa agriculture, and invest in foreign animal disease prevention, mitigation, and response. I have also introduced legislation to lower the cost of crop insurance for the next generation of Iowa farmers and to permanently repeal the death tax on our family farms. As the only member of Congress serving on both the House Agriculture Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee, I will continue to advocate for our farmers and producers who are the backbone of American agriculture. SPEAKING TO PROFESSOR ZYLSTRA'S "LEADING AND SERVING" CLASS AT DORDT UNIVERSITY On Tuesday morning, I began another day of my 36 County Tour by speaking to Professor Zylstra’s “Leading and Serving” class at my alma mater — Dordt University — about how my faith informs my work in Congress. These students have an important role to play in the future of our country. TOURING SUDENGA INDUSTRIES IN GEORGE On my second stop of Tuesday’s 36 County Tour, I toured Sudenga Industries — which manufactures grain, feed, and seed handling equipment — in George. We discussed the importance of domestic manufacturing and the need to extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to promote economic growth. DISCUSSING AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN RURAL IOWA WITH COMMUNITY HOUSING INITIATIVES IN SPIRIT LAKE For stop number 3 on Tuesday's 36 County Tour, I met with Iowans with Community Housing Initiatives — Iowa’s largest nonprofit affordable housing operation. We discussed their work building new units in Hawarden, Spencer, and Spirit Lake and the need for more housing in rural Iowa. PROMOTING E-85 FLEX FUEL VEHICLES OVER CHINA-SOURCED ELECTRIC VEHICLES I appreciate President Trump for ending the Biden administration’s radical electric-vehicle mandate on our families, farmers, and businesses. Electric vehicles are expensive, unreliable, and unworkable, especially in rural communities. The components needed to make EV batteries are also largely sourced from China, and we should not be bankrolling the Chinese Communist Party’s mission to undermine the United States and hurt our economy. I introduced the COST Act to ensure that we consider the full financial and environmental costs of replacing the entire federal vehicle fleet with either electric vehicles or E-85 flex fuel cars and trucks. By promoting flex fuel vehicles, we can support Iowa’s farmers and biofuel producers, prioritize homegrown U.S. fuels over foreign batteries, and strengthen our strategic position against China. Feenstra Leads Legislation to Promote E-85 Flex Fuel Vehicles Over Electrical-Vehicle Mandates for Federal Vehicle Fleet | KWBG Radio | Boone, Iowa Posted on 18 March 2025 by KWBG HULL, Iowa-Today, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) introduced the Comparison of Sustainable Transportation (COST) Act, which would direct the Comptroller General of the Government Accountability Office and U.S. Secretary of Energy to compare the financial and environmental costs of replacing the entire federal gasoline-powered vehicle fleet with either electric vehicles or E-85 capable flex fuel cars and trucks. ENCOURAGING IOWA FARMERS AND PRODUCERS TO APPLY FOR ECONOMIC RELIEF Last December, I voted for the American Relief Act, which was signed into law and included $10 billion in economic relief for our farmers. Starting this week through August 15th, our producers can apply for relief at their local FSA office or online at fsa.usda.gov/ecap. Read More SUPPORTING PARAMEDICS AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS IN RURAL IOWA Rapid emergency medical services are critical for our families and seniors in our rural communities where seconds can be a matter of life and death. As a former volunteer EMT with the Hull Ambulance Service for fifteen years, I know that we need to invest in rural emergency response to ensure that when Iowans dial 911, first responders are on the scene as quickly as possible. I’m glad to help introduce the PARA-EMT Act to deliver the financial resources that our rural communities need to recruit qualified medical personnel, train new paramedics and EMTs, and retain these heroes who face higher levels of burnout and stress. As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which handles aspects of healthcare policy, I’ll continue to lead and support legislation that invests in rural EMS, protects our rural hospitals, and delivers affordable, reliable care for our families and seniors.
