Last Friday, I was in Pflugerville to celebrate Melissa Araujo’s appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, a remarkable achievement for the Pflugerville High School senior. Melissa will be joining the Class of 2029 and the Falcons Women’s Soccer Team. Her hard work, leadership, and commitment have earned her this prestigious opportunity, and I am looking forward to seeing how she makes our community proud. Congratulations, Melissa!

Government Operations in Asheville, NC

Congressman Sessions listens to local stakeholders in Asheville
As Chair of the Subcommittee on Government Operations within the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, I have direct oversight of federal government actions. Last weekend, I traveled to Asheville, North Carolina, to assess FEMA’s response and other federal efforts following Hurricane Helene and recent storms. The damage is extensive, and its impact is still being felt across the region. My team and I are currently working to organize a hearing with key leaders involved in the response, as well as local stakeholders. It is vital that Washington engages directly with our communities to ensure the government is delivering the services Americans deserve. I look forward to continuing this important work.

Wednesday kicked off with a visit to the Baylor Research and Innovation Center (BRIC), where I had the privilege of addressing a group of researchers at the 2nd International Biennial Solid State Additive Manufacturing - Technical Interchange Meeting (SSAM-TIM). I firmly believe that the future of our country depends on the innovation and dedication of our researchers. The groundbreaking work happening at Baylor and across the nation is vital to securing a stronger future. I am deeply grateful for their contributions and will continue to champion and support their efforts.

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure of attending the Nacogdoches Rotary Club luncheon, where I provided an update on the latest from Washington and addressed some of the members' most pressing questions about our government. The Nacogdoches Rotary Club members are deeply committed to serving their community, and I am truly grateful for all the work they do. Thank you for having me, it is always an honor to spend time with Rotarians!

Texas Masonry Hall of Fame

Yesterday evening, I had the privilege of being in San Antonio to present at the induction event of the Texas Masonry Hall of Fame. We gathered for a special dinner within the historic walls of the Alamo, a fitting location as it is a beautiful testament to the craftsmanship of masonry and stands as the birthplace of Texas liberty. The four gentlemen who received the honor represent the best of the industry, having made significant contributions to the field of stone masonry. I have long been a supporter of the craft and take great pride in seeing its preservation and growth. This event not only celebrated their achievements but also highlighted the lasting impact of masonry on our state's history and heritage. It was a truly inspiring evening, and I am grateful to have attended such a meaningful ceremony.
