🔥 Netanyahu Reignites the Gaza War: On Tuesday, Netanyahu decided to resume the fighting in Gaza, disregarding pleas from former hostages, hostage families and top Israeli security experts. With Netanyahu’s government already blocking all humanitarian aid and electricity to Gaza, the renewed fighting is going to make an already horrific situation even worse.
Our Response: “Endless war and an endless siege will not be effective in freeing the hostages or making Israel safer. Every day, renewed fighting puts more lives in danger, empowers extremists and isolates Israel further from global support – including among Jews worldwide.” Read our full statement >>
Our Call to the Pro-Israel Movement: “We call on establishment Jewish organizations to raise their voices today and call for an end to this war. If you truly stand on the side of the Israeli people and the hostage families, you know Netanyahu and the far-right will only lead to destruction,” we wrote.
Rapid Response Briefing: To understand the collapse of the ceasefire and what it will take to get it back on track, we held a briefing with policy and public opinion expert Dr. Dahlia Scheindlin and former White House Middle East Policy Advisor Ilan Goldenberg.
📚 Trump Targets the Department of Education: On Thursday, Trump signed an executive order to eliminate the Department of Education. It's unlikely he will receive enough votes in Congress to truly shutter the department, but if he succeeds, it will place vulnerable students – including Jewish students – at risk.
Our Response: “Now is not the time to be abandoning federal protections for students on campus. It’s a core Jewish and American value that every child should have the freedom to access education and build a life better than that they were born into – no matter who they are or where they come from,” we wrote on Bluesky. Fighting Antisemitism Need Not Come at the Expense of Our Democracy: As the Trump Administration seeks to weaponize painful concerns about antisemitism to justify anti-democratic crackdowns, Jeremy digs into the debate in his latest Substack post: “The very necessary battle against antisemitism – and against hatred and bigotry more broadly – must not be weaponized in the service of efforts to undercut American democracy, the rule of law and our commitments to human and civil rights.” Read the full “Word on the Street” piece here >>
🏛️ J Street on the Hill: The day after Netanyahu resumed airstrikes in Gaza, J Street leaders from across the country headed to Capitol Hill. Here’s what we told Congressional offices:
We strongly oppose resuming the Gaza war. The US must work urgently to bring all parties back to the negotiating table.
We are deeply concerned by the humanitarian situation in Gaza and unlawful aid restrictions imposed by the Israeli and the US governments.
As Trump and Musk gut US foreign assistance, it's critical that Congress passes legislation to increase oversight of US foreign aid.
As settler violence, instability and annexation ramps up in the West Bank, leaders in the US must stand against the settler enterprise.
The only viable path to a peaceful future for both Israelis and Palestinians is a comprehensive regional agreement that includes the establishment of a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside Israel.
✊ The Future We’re Fighting For: Shock, fear, anger, despair. We are in the early stages of fascism: All of these emotions are reasonable and fair. We have to feel them, but we must channel them into action.
What You Can Do About It: In a speech to J Street leaders, Jeremy laid out why our movement is so important and four critical actions for everyone to take:
Show up: At protests, meetings with representatives, rallies, and town halls, especially where a visible Jewish presence is vital – whether we’re standing up to Bibi and Smotrich or speaking out about the future of our country.
Vote: And not just here in our elections, but in the World Zionist Congress elections right now where our Hatikvah Slate can – with a few tens of thousands of votes from folks like you – become a dominant voice in how billions of dollars are spent in Israel.
Talk: Not only amongst ourselves but to those we must rally to our side. We must understand where they are coming from and find a way to make the case for them to vote differently in 2028. We have to build our movement through addition, not division.
Donate: Support organizations that are our partners in this battle – particularly legal organizations that bring critical court cases to check Trump’s power.
🇮🇱 Defining “Pro-Israel” in 2025: In this time of rapid change, with a far-right anti-democratic government in Israel, it can be confusing to navigate what being pro-Israel means, even if it’s an identity the large majority of American Jews hold.
Ten Principles: We’ve released a new pamphlet that lays out ten key principles on being pro-Israel while staying true to the values of democracy, equality and human rights. Read and share here >>
Vote Your Values, Vote Hatikvah: The Hatikvah Slate is running in the World Zionist Congress election in support of the Israel we would like to see: Democratic, pluralistic, and humane. Vote today >>

J Street is the political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy Americans who want Israel to be secure, democratic and the national home of the Jewish people. Working in American politics and the Jewish community, we advocate policies that advance shared US and Israeli interests as well as Jewish and democratic values, leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
