Hello John,

This week, we welcomed experts from across the country to talk about policy blocks and opportunities for Energy Democracy, and the pathways to deepening our commitment to justice in 2025. Find the recording, all of the links and resources shared during our conversation, and speaker bios here.

Peeking out beyond the overwhelm of our current political context, we see possibilities for different futures: one where our communities across race, class, gender, and geography have what we need to stay resilient, year after year. Our speakers affirmed that justice is not just possible, it's imperative as a guiding star for our ongoing work to build an energy system that works for all of us, not just the wealthy few at the top. They also shared helpful tools for you to keep momentum going this year.

2025 opens the door for opportunities for everyday people, just like you and me, to shift power from Wall Street and profit-driven power companies to communities so that we can make our homes places where we all breathe clean air, drink safe water, and live a good life. So...what do we do now? We stay the course...and organize, together!

“Part II - WHAT NOW? PREPARING FOR THE ROAD AHEAD
(Top Left) Ruth Santiago of  Comité Dialogo Ambiental  shared stories about the dangerous shifts in government at the federal and local levels that spell disaster for real, everyday people in Puerto Rico. There is still nearly $20B in FEMA funding that has yet to be claimed, as shared on March 19th. She was joined by (clockwise, from top-right) Johanna Bozuwa of Climate & Community Institute, Jeremy Kalin of Avisen Legal, and Jillian Blanchard of Lawyers for Good Government.

This year, we're advancing our visions for reimagined energy futures.

We know that it's greedy CEOs and politicians who continue to make dangerous decisions in the name of power and profit. They use energy as a tool to extract from and control our communities, lands, and futures. But we also know that energy is a tool for liberation. Together, we’re making sure that all of us have the resources we need to thrive in a reimagined and equitable world where
all communities–especially low-income and communities of color–have access to reliable power, clean air, and safe drinking water.

Thanks for joining us on this path.

Power to the people!
