Jack,
My name is Desiree Tims, and I’m running for Congress in Ohio’s tenth congressional district. I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself and share a little more about why I’m in this race to win.
I’m also going to ask you to donate $25, $50, or whatever you can spare to help me flip this House seat and bring real representation to my district.
My grandfather was a sharecropper in the Deep South, forced to leave school at age six to support household expenses. Inspired by his life and legacy, I became the first in my family to graduate from a four-year college. I went on to attend Georgetown Law, served in the Obama White House, and worked for Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Sherrod Brown in Washington.
But I’m a daughter of Dayton, and I came back home to be a leader and fighter in Congress—to help expand access to healthcare, middle-class jobs, a good education, and the American Dream, which is far too out of reach for so many Ohioans today.
So I’m asking you to contribute to my House campaign. Any amount you can spare gets us one step closer to defeating my GOP incumbent opponent and bringing real representation to my district→
These past few days, weeks and months haven’t been easy. We’re fighting racism and a global pandemic—both of which are deadly, and both of which disproportionately affect the black community.
This isn’t my first time protesting, and it certainly won’t be my last. And at this time of fear and uncertainty, my district deserves real leadership. My district deserves a member of Congress who will fight for bold, structural policy changes. My district deserves a member of Congress who will walk alongside them.
I’m ready to take on that challenge. If you’re with me, please make a donation and invest in my campaign. You can click here to give right now.
With profound gratitude,
Desiree
