We invite you to join us at the Women for a New Los Angeles Luncheon as we honor the historic leadership of our 2025 honoree, Lourdes Garcia. As the Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 572, Lourdes has made groundbreaking strides in labor representation and workers' rights.

Lourdes took the helm of Local 572 in 2023, making history as the first woman and person of color to lead the 87-year-old organization. Teamsters Local 572 represents over 11,500 workers across both private and public sectors—including major employers like Ralphs, Costco, UPS, and LAUSD—and continues to build their capacity under the leadership of Lourdes Garcia. With over two decades of experience in organizing, grievance settlements, contract negotiations, and arbitration, Lourdes has dedicated her career to improving the lives of working people.

Her commitment to social justice was ignited in her youth, when she joined her family at LULAC-supported rallies in El Paso, Texas. Since then, Lourdes has used her legal expertise and passion for collective action to drive progress, both for workers and the broader community.
