Governor Tim Walz here. Republicans in D.C. are eager to do Trump and Elon Musk’s dirty work. They’re gutting funding to critical agencies and cutting thousands of federal jobs without blinking an eye. But when it’s time to own up to their actions and face their constituents — crickets.
GOP representatives won’t host community town halls because they know it would require them to take accountability for what’s happening in Washington.
Well, if they won’t take the time to have tough conversations with hard working Americans, I will.
I was thrilled to join the Iowa Democratic Party in Des Moines as the first stop of my town hall tour in Republican House districts across the country. I made a promise that I would make folks feel heard when there’s a lack of leadership from their elected officials, and the Iowans I spoke to had a lot to say.
People are frustrated about the defunding of Medicaid, agricultural layoffs at the USDA, tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy, and more. Iowans are being abandoned by the government and left feeling vulnerable.
The Iowa Democratic Party is working hard to fix that. They’re leading the charge for ways to get involved across the state and elect Democratic representatives who will listen. My town hall was just one of the actions IDP is taking to help build a Democratic coalition in Iowa, but to reach voters all across the state, they need all of our support.
I’m so grateful to IDP for making last Friday’s town hall possible, which is why I wanted to reach out and ask for your help. Will you make a $25 donation to the Iowa Democratic Party today to continue making noise and laying the groundwork for change?
Iowan families deserve more than what their Republican elected officials are doing. I’m so proud of everyone who joined me and made their voices heard.
Together,
Tim Walz
