Legislative Update – March 21, 2025
Dear Neighbors,
I hope you’re all enjoying some of the warmer weather and sunnier days, which will hopefully soon outnumber the cold and windy ones! Today, I joined Rich and Ryan in the Morning on KYMN to talk about the first week of shared power in Minnesota House Committees, Sovereignty Day with Minnesota's Native leaders, a game-changing "bill of rights" for manufactured home parks, and more. _Take a listen to the full interview here. Community at the Capitol
This week I met with folks about legislation to better recycle and handle our e-waste and attended the Legislature’s 10th Annual Iftar Dinner where I ran into two Northfielders and one former constituent! I also visited State Supreme Court Justice Gordon Moore and we both showed our Northfield pride and support for KYMN Radio!

Protecting our Wildlife and Environment
Yesterday, I had my first bill presentation of this term as the Environment and Natural Resources Committee heard _my bill protecting our public lands [ [link removed] ]_ from illegal ATV operations while still supporting our outdoor economy. The bill drew considerable public interest, with 16 testifiers providing their input and a 45-minute discussion in total!
3-20 Pursell Committee Hearing
I was proud to be supported in this effort by the Indigenous leaders, retired DNR conservation officers, scientists, ATV owners, the Wildlife Society, the Public Lands Coalition, township supervisors, and more. I’ve been working on this type of legislation since I was first elected, and I'm dedicated to finding common ground so we can better protect our environment and wildlife. _You can watch the hearing here [ [link removed] ]_.

Manufactured Home Park Resident Bill of Rights
I’ve been spending time over the past couple of years listening to residents in manufactured home parks in our district and across the state and learning about the struggles they face. Our neighbors are dealing with bad actors and out-of-state private equity landlords who don’t care about anything other than their company's bottom line, and often residents have nowhere to turn for legal recourse.
Our Attorney General, Keith Ellison's office even had to intervene on behalf of the residents of Viking Terrace two years ago [ [link removed] ] and I continue to be in touch with his office to make sure actions taken against these tenants are legal. It was empowering to be in the same room as these advocates for our press conference on Tuesday!
3-18 Pursell Manufactured Homes Presser
I was proud to stand with legislators and advocates to _introduce the Manufactured Home Park Resident Bill of Rights [ [link removed] ]_, which I’ve proudly coauthored! It improves resident protections, limits unreasonable lot rent increases, and grants an opportunity to purchase that will benefit all parties. I’m excited to continue working to get this bill passed this year. _You can watch the press conference here [ [link removed] ]_.
