Friend,
When the city of Phoenix abandoned its responsibility to enforce the law,
the Goldwater Institute fought on behalf of residents and business owners
to demand action.
The city stopped enforcing the law in “The Zone” – an area of
downtown Phoenix plagued by crime and homelessness. As a result, residents
were forced to flee, and small business owners were forced to close their
doors.
At the Goldwater Institute, we couldn’t sit by and let this happen. We
filed a lawsuit against Phoenix’s government, highlighting the failure to
enforce laws that led to rampant crime and the destruction of downtown
neighborhoods.
We won in court, forcing the city to clean up The Zone!
But this was only the beginning. Our next step was the passage of
Proposition 312.
Overwhelmingly adopted by Arizona voters, Proposition 312 stops future
politicians or bureaucrats from recreating the Zone or anything like it,
giving residents back their tax dollars when the government refuses to do
its basic duties.
With the successful passage of Proposition 312, the Goldwater Institute is
ensuring the government is held accountable by making them compensate
property and business owners for damages incurred when the government fails
to enforce the law.
Now, the Goldwater Institute is taking this groundbreaking
policy to states across the nation.
I’m Victor Riches, President and CEO of the Goldwater Institute. At the
Goldwater Institute, we know that property owners have fundamental
constitutional rights, and we are fighting to defend their rights.

If there’s one thing the government hates, it’s losing out on our tax
dollars.
Sadly, this type of government negligence isn’t limited to
Arizona.
Across the nation, we are seeing reckless progressive policies turning
once-thriving cities into wastelands.
That’s why the Goldwater Institute is expanding our successful Arizona
blueprint nationwide to fight for property rights in all 50 states!
Please support
the Goldwater Institute’s fight to defend property rights in every
state.

In California, the refusal of district attorneys to prosecute crimes caused
lawbreakers to roam free with no worry of punishment.
Despite spending $24 billion on its homelessness crisis over the
past five years, California has seen the homeless population increase by
about 20%.
Taxpayers deserve better than the government allowing the violation of
their property rights. Politicians are failing to do their jobs, but by
expanding Proposition 312 nationwide, we can hold officials
accountable.
