Donate IT Oldham campaign given huge boost

Oldham Council has donated 400 devices to the Donate IT Oldham campaign, helping to make the borough more digitally inclusive.

Launched in early 2024 with Tameside Community Computers, the campaign refurbishes donated devices to support vulnerable residents who lack access to digital services.

Councillor Abdul Jabbar, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Value for Money and Sustainability, said:

“Our mission is clear – we want every resident to have access to digital services. With the support of residents, businesses, and partners, we can close the digital gap in Oldham.”

Before the campaign, 40% of residents reported struggling to get online due to a lack of devices or internet access. Over the past year, hundreds of donated devices have been recycled and gifted to those in need.

If you have an unwanted device, you can donate it at any Oldham library or email [email protected].
