** Government admits shelling out €2.3 million of taxpayer’s money to leading international pro-abortion group
------------------------------------------------------------

On Wednesday, it emerged that the Government has handed over €2.3 million of taxpayers’ money, since 2022 alone, to the world’s leading pro-abortion group, International Planned Parenthood Federation.

The public would be none the wiser that this abuse of taxpayers’ money was taking place were it not for TDs like Carol Nolan asking sharp and relevant Parliamentary Questions on an ongoing basis. In a statement after the reply to Deputy Nolan’s question was issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Eilís Mulroy of the Pro Life campaign said: “It is astounding that the Government has funded the leading international abortion provider to the tune of €2.3 million since 2022. Planned Parenthood is the single largest provider of abortions in the US. In addition, many of its practices are deeply questionable. There is credible evidence that Planned Parenthood has been involved in the sale of the body parts of aborted babies. Meanwhile, its international affiliate International Planned Parenthood Federation is the main supplier and promoter of abortion worldwide.

“Funders of International Planned Parenthood have used the excuse in the past that IPPF doesn’t just carry out abortions but also provides other services like antenatal and postnatal care. But that excuse is nothing but a smoke screen. If the goal was to fund maternal healthcare and safety for women during pregnancy in developing countries, the Government could have very easily donated to groups that provide such excellent care to women and babies in pregnancy. But instead they decided to donate to a major international abortion provider with an appalling record in human

rights and in respecting the right to life. There needs to be an urgent debate in the Dáil on this matter and the way in which taxpayers’ money is being spent.”

Devastating new research on the emotional distress experienced by midwives involved in abortions

Research just published in the Journal of Clinical Nursing reveals the devastating truth of what it’s like to be a midwife working in an environment where abortions are performed. The latest research focuses on the provision of abortion after 14 weeks in Australia and New Zealand. It was published on 14 March 2025.

Describing the moral and emotional impact of being involved in the abortion process, one midwife wrote: “To participate in elective death and birth is very challenging. It is emotionally distressing for everyone involved. The decision to terminate a viable baby is very challenging. It stays with me long after the birth. The distress of the mother (and others) stays with me. If the mother (and others) is indifferent, that also stays with me. I grieve the loss of the baby. I have a ritual I perform for the baby’s soul while it lingers around the time of death and birth”.

March for Life 2025 💙

Takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May @2pm

If you don’t have the date in your diary already, please take note of it today!

This year’s March for Life has an added importance as the new government begins to take hold. The significant increase in the number of pro-life TDs and Senators elected recently creates a big opportunity for the pro-life movement - one that we need to embrace wholeheartedly.

The hard work is paying off and starting to show results but we have to keep pushing forward.

Bank Holiday Monday (5th May) is our chance to unite with our pro-life Oireachtas members and send a very clear message to the Government that we expect to see urgent action taken to address Ireland’s skyrocketing abortion numbers. The appalling situation at present of women being kept in the dark about positive alternatives prior to an abortion, has to end.

It will only end however if enough pressure mounts. Change happens when people show up. On Bank Holiday Monday (5th May), we are counting on you to make an extra special effort to be present. We can’t wait to see you there!
