Please Support WAGOP's Election Integrity Efforts


Bellevue—The Washington State Republican Party (WAGOP) is serious about fighting for election integrity on multiple fronts, including in Clark County and across our beautiful state.

On March 13th, Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey was taken to court for failing to maintain the district’s voter database and allowing illegal votes to be cast in the LD 18 Senate Race.

We know these ballots were illegal because voters themselves had self-reported to the US Postal Service prior to the election that they were changing their address. To prove this, volunteers visited the addresses in question, spoke to current residents, and collected affidavits confirming that at least 312 of these voters had indeed moved out of LD 18. Keep in mind, 173 votes separated the winner from the loser in that Senate race.

Defense attorneys were successful in getting many of these affidvaits dismissed as current residents were often hesitant to sign affidavits for strangers. With these affidavits discarded, the defense argued that there was no proof that voters had done anything more than change their mailing address, and thus no definitive number of votes should be thrown out. They also argued that Kimsey did use postal service data to clean the voter rolls but admitted that some records were excluded.

Judge Banfield has extended the case, giving the plaintiffs another chance to prove negligence on the part of Greg Kimsey. The case was not a win, but it was not a loss, either. And the case remains pending.
