Best for Britain and the Social Market Foundation released a new independent report. It shows any change to trade with Europe during our recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic will have serious economic repercussions.   

The best way to spread the word about this report in your community is sending a letter to your local newspaper. 

Simply copy and paste the template letter at the bottom of this email, and send it on to your local paper. The email address you need should be on their website. 

Hundreds have already sent a letter. We’ve seen our supporters in the Lancashire Telegraph, the Nottingham Post and the Bolton News, to name just a few. Complete our survey and let us know if you can help. 

Your MP is bound to read their local newspaper, especially the letters section, so it’s a great way to get their attention. It will show them their constituents support extending the transition period.

If we do nothing we could end this year in a massive Coronavirus recession at the same time as abandoning all the UK's trading relationships with other countries.

Ordinary people will pay the price.

To the Editor, 

I’ve just seen a new report (from Best for Britain and the Social Market Foundation) on the double impact of Brexit and Coronavirus, and feel like I’ve spotted an iceberg on the horizon that everyone else is ignoring.

The report shows that any change to our trade relationship with Europe during the Covid-19 recession will hurt the UK economy. The North West and the Midlands regions of the UK would face a disproportionately severe impact should we leave the Brexit transition period without any kind of deal.

Brexit is done and we cannot stop it, but we can protect our jobs, our services and our local businesses. However, our communities are already stretched to breaking point by the coronavirus pandemic and we desperately need time to deal with that before we can turn our focus to our changing relationship with the EU.
