MONDAY 3/24: Know Your Rights for Feds!

Dear Friend,

As we all know, it's now more important than ever that we look after our neighbors who work in the federal government. That's why DC JWJ is proud to uplift these two amazing resources: the Federal Worker Solidarity Fund hosted by the Community Services Agency and an upcoming Know Your Rights training for Federal Workers!

The Federal Worker Solidarity Fund, hosted by the Community Services Agency (CSA) of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO, is a way for everyone to support fired federal workers who are now experiencing financial hardship. Your donation to the Fund will help fired federal workers put food on the table, get life-saving medication, and remain in their home during this time of hardship. Donate to the Fund today to support workers in our region.

Applications to the Fund are now open. Federal workers part of a union or non-unionized who have lost the job as a result of recent terminations, firings, and lay-offs due to no fault of their own are eligible to request support from this fund. Workers must live in the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO or the Northern Virginia Labor Federation.

On Monday, March 24th at 5pm, Metro DC DSA Labor Working Group and People's Parity Project are hosting a virtual Know Your Rights webinar:

Federal Rights Training:
How to tell the government to fork off without being fired

Are you a federal worker that is worried about what you can and can’t say in the workplace today? Or are you worried what activities you can participate in off duty hours or groups that you can associate with? How about liking that post on social media or donating to a cause? Come learn about your rights of expression and association as a federal worker in this one-hour webinar.

We hope these resources are helpful during these times, and we thank you for your commitment to solidarity with workers everywhere!

In solidarity,

Eduarda Serafim
