Tell Your Members Of Congress: Stop Trump's Attempt To Eliminate The Department Of Education!
John,
Today, Donald Trump signed an executive order attempting to eliminate the Department of Education—a decision he does not have the authority to make.
This order follows his move last week to cut the department’s workforce in half. It directs Education Secretary Linda McMahon to begin dismantling the agency, shifting education oversight back to individual states.
Trump is actively working to undermine the federal government, and it’s up to Congress to prevent him from dismantling public education. Congress must take action and uphold its role as an equal branch of government to hold him accountable.

Let’s make it plain: Trump does not have the authority to eliminate a federal department with an executive order. But by making steep workforce cuts, and mandating that no remaining funds be put towards DEI, he’s ensured that Black students, children with disabilities, and working-class families will suffer.
Without our collective advocacy, the White House will continue to advance a neo-segregationist agenda that fails students and families nationwide, undermining opportunity for generations to come. We can’t and won’t let that happen.
