Dear neighbor,
On Tuesday, congressional Democrats held a Medicaid Day of Action with events across this country. At the Allcove Youth Center, I hosted a roundtable discussion to hear directly from doctors, patients, youth leaders, and advocates from Beach Cities Health District, Redondo Beach Unified School District, Venice Family Clinic, NAMI South Bay, South Bay Children’s Health Clinic, and the Youth Mental Health Project.
We talked about the many ways that Medicaid benefits our community, including supporting home services for senior citizens living independently, providing low-income and disabled residents with health screenings, offering mental health services, and ensuring school-aged children receive dental screenings.
MAGA extremists want to implement these cruel cuts to give tax handouts to the wealthiest Americans. In our district alone, 110,000 people are at risk of losing their health care because of how these cuts will impact Medi-Cal. This also means less money for our hospitals, nursing homes, and community health centers, reducing quality of care.
I’m working every day to fight back against the cruelty and chaos. But we need your help to spread the word about this attack on Medicaid. Make your voice heard and let those in power know that our health care is not to be messed with.
