# [#]This is a five-alarm fire, Friend.

Today Trump is expected to sign an executive order to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education.

Let me be clear: Trump does NOT have the authority to close the Education Department. It was created by Congress, and only Congress has the authority to dismantle it.

We must use every tool available to block this—in the courts, in Congress, and with swift public outcry.

I want to explain exactly how reckless and harmful Trump’s executive order is. But first, can you chip in $30 or $35 to help me and my team protect public education? We need all the resources we can get to fight back against this attack on the Department of Education. [[link removed]]

FIGHT BACK >> [[link removed]]

Friend, for nearly 50 years, the Dept. of Education has been the foundation of educational opportunity in this country.

The Department ensures that every student—regardless of race, income, gender, immigration status, or disabilities—has access to a quality education, free from discrimination. Every year, they help thousands of students afford colleges, work programs, or apprenticeships. And they ensure students with disabilities have the support they need to be successful.

So why does Trump want to dismantle it? Trump and his Republican allies want to dismantle public education altogether.

Like Gov. Greg Abbott in Texas, their ultimate goal is to privatize public education. They want your taxpayer dollars to be spent on vouchers given to wealthy families to send their kids to private schools – schools unavailable to low-income kids and those in rural communities.

We MUST put a stop to this blatantly unconstitutional power grab before our students’ education suffers. My team is working to organize and mobilize Texans to fight back against this assault on public education – but we need your help.

Can you chip in $30 or $35 today to help us fight back against this attack on our public education system? We need resources to mobilize an opposition to this blatantly unconstitutional power grab. Your support goes a long way. [[link removed]]
