Politico reports "the chair of the House GOP's campaign arm told Republican lawmakers to stop holding in-person town halls amid a wave of angry backlash."
So everyday Americans – led by our friends at Indivisible – are stepping up to let the public’s voice be heard at "empty seat town halls" and other events all across America.
These events are happening in red, purple, and blue districts across the nation – and Democratic officials are attending some of them.
"In this world of wondering what is effective as Trump floods the zone, one thing that is indisputably true is that as Trump voters and veterans speak out in local meetings, House Republicans are feeling the pain," PCCC co-founder Adam Green told Axios, adding he hopes that effort will become a "caucus-wide intentional strategy of going to House Republican districts."
Democratic Senators like Jeff Merkley, Andy Kim, Ron Wyden, Michael Bennett, Ruben Gallego, and others are boldly holding events in HOUSE REPUBLICAN districts in their home states.
Response everywhere has been HUGE. It’s important to turn out because local media are covering everyday people asking about Trump cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans health care, kids nutrition programs, and other priorities – to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.
Thanks for being part of this fight.
