Friend --

Across the state, our communities are watching in horror as families are pushed into homelessness at unprecedented rates - many becoming homeless for the first time in their lives.

Alameda and Contra Costa counties saw homelessness increase 43% in just two years. Sacramento - 52%. San Francisco - 30%. Los Angeles County - 12%.

We need to act now, which is why ACCE is ramping up our biggest campaigns yet to fight displacement, rent gouging and unfair evictions across California - but we can’t do it without you. Our goal is to get 300 new monthly sustainers by midnight on Friday. Can we count on you to be one of them?

Join our multi-racial, ground-up movement to stop displacement in California by becoming an ACCE sustainer today! <[link removed]>

Over the next two weeks, ACCE is working to win a statewide bill that stops outrageous rent increases and unfair evictions. The Tenant Protection Act of 2019 (Assembly Bill 1482) needs to face both the state Senate floor and the Assembly concurrence votes by September 13th, and we’re willing to do whatever it takes to help us get there. It’s why ACCE leaders occupied the Governor’s office overnight to ensure the bill passed through the Assembly. And it’s why ACCE will continue to fight to stop displacement and take on Wall Street landlords for as long as it takes to keep families in their homes.

Corporate landlords have already dumped millions into stopping us, and yet we’re still so close to securing a major win for tenants with the Tenant Protection Act of 2019.

The mental, emotional and spiritual impacts of being displaced are tremendous. And with an enormously wealthy real estate lobby in California and a legislature made up of homeowners and over a quarter landlords, we need supporters like you to join the movement to make sure the Tenant Protection Act of 2019 passes.

There’s so much more ground-up organizing we can do to build power and win - but we can’t do it without you. Join us in fighting displacement across California and become an ACCE Sustainer! <[link removed]>

There was no single person, mass march or direct-action that brought the civil rights movement to its culminating victory of the Civil Right and Voting Rights Acts. It was the collective effort of thousands of organizers, allies and regular people persistently and relentlessly taking action and contributing over the course of DECADES. At ACCE we take that lesson to heart. We are dedicated to passing strong tenant protections and halting the rising homelessness rates by organizing in community, from the ground up, to bring the voice of working people and communities of color to the halls of power over the long haul. We CAN prove that tenant power is stronger than the power of money.

In solidarity,

Christina
