Chronic Absenteeism in California

Despite recent improvements, chronic absenteeism remains stubbornly high in California—especially in the earliest grades and in high school. Absenteeism can disrupt classroom dynamics, affecting the academic performance of all students. Furthermore, with school funding based on attendance, districts lose revenue when students miss school.
