John, Like you, I am worried about the collapse of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and what it means for the people of Gaza and for the remaining hostages. And I am angry. There is a consensus in Israel that Prime Minister Netanyahu chose to end the ceasefire now in order to save his coalition. The good news is that a huge part of the Israeli public is angry too. And they are doing something about it. Starting on Tuesday evening – when some 40,000 people came out to protest in Tel Aviv – the streets in Israel have been flooded with protesters. They are mobilized both by Netanyahu’s cynical campaign to blame Israel’s security officials for the catastrophe of October 7 and by anger at his decision to abandon the hostages and return to war.
It will not surprise you that our counterparts at Peace Now are taking part in this grassroots mobilization. The photo above is from yesterday’s march in Jerusalem night. The sign reads “Enough War. Make a Deal Now!” Israel needs a strong peace movement today. And support for the Peace Now movement is a big part of what New Jewish Narrative does. You can be a part of this. Make a donation today to the New Jewish Narrative. Thank you for standing with us, and for everything you do.
