Dear JohnPlease contact your MP and urge them to oppose harmful cuts

This week, the Government proposed drastic cuts to Britain’s social security system which are immoral, hugely harmful to some of the country’s poorest people, and based on misleading spin.

This further dismantling of crucial welfare support threatens to impoverish disabled people, and flies in the face of Government promises and thorough evidence.

We (Stef Benstead, Sydnie Corley and Mary Passeri, pictured above) are all involved in Church Action on Poverty’s Speaking Truth to Power programme and other campaigns. We know how harmful these cuts will be, from lived experience. Together with other disabled people all over the country, we’re calling for the threatened cuts to be cancelled.

Read about the impact these immoral cuts will have on vulnerable people in our full statement - click here.

In December, we met the minister for disability, Stephen Timms MP. He told us then that disabled people would be at the heart of the Government’s actions.

Now we’re urging Mr Timms to honour that pledge. Please add your voice - use our simple e-action to email your MP now.
