The wannabe dictator is expected to sign a long-expected executive action Thursday calling on US Education Secretary Linda McMahon "to take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure [of] the Department of Education and return education authority to the States," according to the White House. Trump plans to sign the order at a ceremony alongside the Republican governors of Texas, Indiana, Florida, and Ohio.

Musk went on to feign shock at the latest incident involving his car company — which should and surely will be investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law — and said the electric vehicle behemoth has only ever conducted itself peacefully and has never hurt anyone. We're guessing people whose Teslas explode out of the blue might beg to differ, but sure, for the sake of this argument, Tesla is a peaceful company. But Elon is deluding himself if he cannot see why and how his chaotic DOGE attacks on nearly every agency of the federal government are causing great harm and upending tens of thousands of Americans' lives, with catastrophic ripple effects extending far beyond our borders. Just a hunch, but random people committing acts of vandalism directed at Tesla are not pissed at the actual cars. They're furious with Musk and the needless pain he is inflicting. This isn't rocket science. Elon, of all people, should get that.

When Texas Republicans passed the Texas Heartbeat Act in 2021 only allowing abortion exceptions if a pregnant woman's life is in danger, they conveniently did so with vague language lacking clarity around how danger and serious risk are defined. By taking these serious and often heartbreaking decisions away from doctors and their patients and putting them in the hands of ideological lawmakers with little understanding of medical science or female anatomy but very strong feelings about the Bible, they needlessly and cruelly put countless women at risk. Unfortunately, Porsha Ngumezi was one of them. Ngumezi went to a Texas hospital when she began having a miscarriage 11 weeks into her pregnancy. According to her husband Hope Ngumezi, Porsha wasn't given a D&C, a surgical procedure that can be used when a miscarriage isn't complete and the patient is bleeding excessively — as she was at the time. It's the same procedure used for many abortions, but doctors told CBS News their colleagues hesitate to perform them, fearing the state's criminal penalties. Ngumezi believes that's what happened in his wife's situation. She eventually went into cardiac arrest and tragically died. "I blame the doctors, I blame the hospital, and I blame the state of Texas," Ngumezi said.

Hundreds of Jewish professors, scholars, and students have signed a letter condemning the Trump administration for canceling $400 million in federal funding to Columbia University and threatening other universities. Columbia is reportedly nearing an agreement with the Trump administration, which pushed an aggressive slate of demands on the university that critics said were a grave threat to academic freedom. The administration has justified the demands, and the funding cuts, by alleging Columbia has “failed to protect American students and faculty” from antisemitic harassment, in addition to other unspecified legal violations. On Sunday those plans were shattered when El Salvador’s authoritarian president, Nayib Bukele, published a cinematographic propaganda video on social media showing scores of Venezuelan prisoners being frog-marched off planes and into custody in his country’s "terrorism confinement center." "It’s him," a shell-shocked Sebastián told their mother after spotting his sibling among those shackled men.
