Friend --
Tomorrow night I'll be holding my annual Ward 6
Budget Town Hall - virtually. There's no use pretending this is
another iteration of this annual event. We aren't in normal times and
I don't want to pretend we are. The protests that have taken over our
city for the past six days are raising the pressure for important
changes and we are still living in the middle of a pandemic.
So, here's our first opportunity to shape the budget to move our
city toward being a more equitable, safe, and just community for all
of us. I want to use this time to walk through what has been proposed
by the Mayor, share some of my goals, and be sure I leave time for
questions or comments. The decisions we will make, even during a
pandemic that has drastically changed our finances, have the
opportunity to make a tremendous difference.?

Hall June 4, 2020? 7:30 - 9 PM www.Facebook.com/CMCharlesAllen ***Live

I'll be hosting it via Zoom and streaming it on my Facebook page.
And don't worry, you can watch it on Facebook without having a
Facebook account.?
Now, normally my favorite part of our Town Hall is the chance to
hear your thoughts and answer your questions. Budgets are moral
documents and budgets are how we bring policy to life. And I still
want to hear from you. At the same time, I won't lie I have concerns
that holding a big Zoom meeting will alienate folks who aren't
familiar with Zoom and would risk creating an unwelcoming environment
if someone wanted to abuse the space.?
So here's how we've decided to handle it. I've created a place to
upload a video on our office Dropbox account. If you have a question
or a comment about the budget, or my approach to it, take 30 seconds
to record yourself and upload it here.? We will play some of the
videos during the town hall. I can't promise we'll get to every video,
but we will make sure we respond to as many areas of concern as we
can.? Your question or comment doesn't have to be perfect. Just let me
know what you care about. It's my job to turn that into action when I
can.?
Here's the link, which works well from a mobile phone: https://www.dropbox.com/request/yma335Gj6RRxsii3dGvV
Additionally, I'll try to take as many questions in the Facebook
Event chat (you do need to be logged in for that part). I know this
isn't ideal, but hearing from you helps me and my team know what are
the top priorities for our neighbors. This is a way to safely still
have this important conversation as a community.?
Hope you can make it tomorrow,
Charles Allen
