Dear John,
I’m writing to share some positive news about our plan to grow the economy and support Kiwis like you to beat the cost of living.
This morning it was confirmed that the economy grew by 0.7 per cent at the end of last year – driven by the incredible work of our farmers and growers, the tourism sector, and small businesses up and down New Zealand. GDP per capita also rose for the first time in two years – showing our hard work is translating into real economic success.
But it’s not just about the numbers. Economic growth matters because it means more jobs, higher incomes, and more money in your back pocket – so every Kiwi can get ahead.
I know there’s more to do. That’s why we’re doing everything we can to unleash economic growth – like backing our farmers and growers, promoting tourism, and investing in infrastructure around the country.
It’s why this week I’m in India launching negotiations for a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement and it’s why I spent last week convincing international investors to choose New Zealand as a place to invest, so we can get stuff built and supercharge our local businesses.
We’ll keep working hard – but today’s news is fresh evidence that our plan is working.
We’ve broken the back of inflation, interest rates are falling, and now growth is back. That success is setting the stage for higher incomes, more jobs, and more opportunities for Kiwis to get ahead and beat the cost of living.
Thank you,
Christopher
