Last night, SOSAZ hosted an Emergency Townhall with Congressman Greg Stanton about the dramatic cuts to the US Dept. of Ed and federal K-12 dollars under the Trump administration. We heard strong remarks from Rep. Stanton about the critical importance of stepping up for public education and our democracy NOW. We also localized the impact by hearing incredible testimony from a panel of education stakeholders who will be impacted by these cuts, including Armando Montero (Tempe Union School Board President), Zel Fowler (Title I Educator & Pres. of AZ Alliance of Black School Educators), and Jenniffer Jarvis (SPED parent and cofounder of EPIC Disability).

We’re grateful to everyone who submitted questions prior to and during the event for Congressman Stanton to field. While sobering, the conversation left us feeling even more committed to fighting for Arizona kids and educators. You won’t want to miss it!
The demand for this townhall was through the roof! We apologize if you were unable to join the zoom call, but we recorded the whole event which can be viewed on our Save Our Schools Arizona Youtube. |
