A Chair's Reflection: Resilience in the Face of Adversity

Aloha Fellow Patriots,

This week, as I know many of you are aware of the ongoing challenges we face within our party. It has been a trying time for all of us, particularly when we see actions that undermine the principles we hold dear...actions that threaten the integrity of our elections and the unity of our team. It’s disheartening when counties and districts fail to uphold the rules that ensure fairness and transparency. We all know the importance of fair elections, and it’s difficult to see that these efforts are not being honored everywhere within our own ranks. As I reflect on the challenges we face as a party, I’m reminded of the strength that has been demonstrated by those of you who continue to work hard behind the scenes to keep our party moving forward. However, I cannot ignore the unfortunate reality that some individuals, who now seem eager to cause division and take over our party, were nowhere to be found when the hard work was needed.

They were absent when it came to critical fundraising efforts, organizing events, packing up, and moving out of the Kapiolani building, and preparing for the successful sale of that property. When it came time to roll up sleeves and pitch in, they chose silence. Yet, when things are running smoothly, they are the first to complain, mislead, gaslight, and stretch the truth to make themselves appear more favorable. The same people who put us in debt, quit, manipulated, and pushed divides, want back in. Boy, it would be great if DOGE could come to Hawaii and do a deep clean of our state, and while here look at the past of the party to see why we really haven't been successful over the decades.

It is disheartening, but it only strengthens my resolve. It’s a reminder that there will always be those who would rather tear things down than build them up. But despite their tactics, we have accomplished a great deal together. Thanks to the work of dedicated patriots, we turned the party’s financial situation around, paid off debt, and sold the building for over $200,000 more than its appraised value. There is much more that has been accomplished, and I have shared that before in the past.

Sometimes it is hard to stay positive in the face of such opposition, but I find inspiration in the actions of those who continue to move the party forward with integrity and dedication. We will not be distracted or deterred by those who seek to divide us. Instead, we will focus on what we’ve built and what we will continue to build and will offer evidence of transparency and truth.

I thank each and every one of you for your ongoing commitment. We have faced adversity before, and we’ve come out stronger. I have no doubt that, with your help, we will continue to rise above the noise and do the hard work necessary to secure the future of our party, for the people, for the country.

Stay strong, stay united, and let’s keep moving forward.

With respect and gratitude,

Tamara McKay
