Assessing Tornado Damage Across the District
Central, Southwest, and East Mississippi saw strong storms this past weekend that left damage across the Third Congressional District. Please join Haley and me as we continue to pray for our fellow Mississippians affected by the recent storms, especially those families who are experiencing the loss of loved ones. I am thankful to Governor Reeves and the many first responders who have been working around the clock to save lives and start the recovery process. I also want to thank all of our utility workers for their efforts to restore power to those impacted by the tornados. Thank you for your tireless, hard work to help so many Mississippians.
While in Smith County, I spoke with WJTV about the tornado damage and the role that federal assistance will play in the cleanup and recovery process. I want to thank our local media for their continued coverage of the aftermath of these powerful storms.
I also met with Mayor Kellie Phipps of Taylorsville to discuss the damage caused by the tornados. Taylorsville, located in Smith County, was one of the areas hardest hit by the storms this weekend.

Attending the Opening of the Hurricane Katrina Exhibit
My family and I were excited to be part of the opening of the Hurricane Katrina exhibit at the Two Mississippi Museums. The exhibit features photographs from Melody Golding and is a powerful reminder of the damage caused by the costliest natural disaster in our nation’s history.
