Folks,
Women’s History Month is a time to celebrate the contributions of women in every aspect of our lives.
But it’s also a time to acknowledge the constant attacks by Republicans on women’s rights and to push back against those who want to take us backward. Just take a look at how the issue is showing up in one of the most important elections of 2025: The Wisconsin Supreme Court race.
Recounting oral arguments in a case challenging the state’s 1849 abortion ban, conservative candidate Brad Schimel claimed that the justices in the majority were too “driven by their emotions,” saying they were “on the brink of losing it.”
Here’s why that’s extremely problematic: All four justices happen to be women.
Folks, that sexist mindset was kicked to the curb generations ago. But today, it’s seemingly still held by far-right leaders who want to take us back to that time when women had fewer rights than they do today — when women couldn’t hold positions of power in this country because some men didn’t think they were capable of it. This Women’s History Month, we’re asking you to power our work to ensure that people who believe that don’t get a chance to take control in Wisconsin.
The NDRC is working hard to help elect Schimel’s challenger and staunch champion for women’s rights, Judge Susan Crawford. If she wins, Wisconsin could protect reproductive freedom, expand voting rights, and defend fair representation — if she loses, Schimel and his allies will retake the majority on the court, placing all these important values at risk.
This election is less than two weeks away — will you rush a donation of $30 to help get out the vote as we work to elect Democracy Defenders in Wisconsin and across the country? [[link removed]]
