Elon Musk and DOGE are trying to make seniors and folks with disabilities jump through hoops to get their Social Security checks.
The Trump administration, at the direction of Musk and DOGE, just announced that they will require millions of Social Security recipients to visit agency offices IN PERSON to verify their identity.
At the same time, Musk and DOGE are attempting to close dozens of Social Security offices and lay off thousands of Social Security employees – intentionally hurting seniors in rural communities and those with disabilities who can’t easily travel to field offices.
Let me be clear: this has NOTHING to do with cutting fraud.
This is about two things: 1) slashing Social Security benefits to pay for massive tax cuts for billionaires like Musk and Trump and 2) intentionally creating chaos at the Social Security Administration so they can privatize the system and further enrich themselves.
As someone who represents tens of thousands of Social Security recipients in Texas, I’m sounding the alarm about their attempts to slash benefits and privatize the program. But I need your help to get the word out.
