[1]Mark Kelly for Senate

This is the message one of my constituents told me to take back to my Republican colleagues in Washington:

“When they’re burning down this house, there’s people still inside.”

Ruben Gallego and I held a town hall on Medicaid on Monday, and we heard from a lot of scared people. They’re scared because Elon Musk and Donald Trump have made it clear that they’re going to cut hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicaid. In Arizona, that could mean hundreds of thousands or even millions of people lose their health care coverage.

It’s important to say why they’re doing this. Why are Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and Republicans in the House and Senate getting ready to rip away peoples health care? To make room for trillions of dollars in tax breaks for rich people and big corporations.

It isn’t about waste. It isn’t about fraud. It isn’t about abuse. If it was, they’d have partners to help them root it out. I am all for finding efficiencies and improving outcomes. All this — the entire reason they’re destroying government agencies and programs that millions depend on — is to give a massive tax break to the richest people.

I’m holding these town halls because I wanted to hear directly from my constituents. And I think Republicans in Congress should have to hear from theirs, too. So, I’m going to ask you to sign your name if you agree:

Tell Republicans in Congress it’s time to face their constituents and explain why they’re supporting Trump and Musk’s cuts and choosing billionaires over working families.

If my Republican colleagues are too scared to face their constituents, well then I’ll deliver your stories to them myself. But that doesn’t mean we can stop holding them accountable to show up.

Thank you for your support,

Mark
