Dear John,
Mercy For Animals recently conducted a groundbreaking investigation into Whole Foods' chicken supply across North Americaβand the results are disturbing.
Dedicated volunteers and supporters found signs of white-striping disease, associated with inhumane breeding practices, in chicken meat at every single Whole Foods location surveyed.
White-striping occurs when oxygen-starved muscle fibers are replaced with fat. This condition appears as white lines of fat across the chicken breast. While it doesn't harm humans, it is visible evidence of the suffering endured by chickens bred for unnatural growth.
Whole Foods pledged to ban birds bred for unnaturally rapid growth by 2024. The evidence of white-striping disease at all 88 Whole Foods stores surveyed is clear proof the company broke their promise to animals and consumers.
But this is not just an issue of broken promises; it's a blatant sign of animal cruelty in Whole Foods' supply chain.

These chickens endure heartbreaking suffering. Their oversize bodies lead to painful bone and joint issues and frequent collapses. Some tragically endure fatal heart attacks and organ failure.
Despite claiming to be a leader in ethical and high-quality food, Whole Foods continues to profit off lies and sell meat from birds bred to suffer. Animals need us to make sure Whole Foods doesn't get away with this.
You can help.
