This Saturday is World Water Day, an international celebration of water, yet millions of families in the U.S. are still exposed to lead in their water every single day.

And now, Republicans in Congress are aiming to repeal a rule that would require all lead service lines in most communities to be replaced over the next decade.

It doesn’t matter what party you belong to – it is unacceptable to allow kids to be exposed to lead in their water.

There is no safe level of lead in drinking water — it’s especially dangerous for children — and yet, water for millions of Americans is currently being poisoned due to old and outdated lead service lines.

Under the Biden Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) adopted the historic Lead Out of Water Rule (called the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements) that requires the replacement of lead service lines in most communities over the next decade — protecting millions of families from lead exposure through their drinking water.

Despite this critical, commonsense measure, Republicans in Congress have proposed to repeal the Lead Out of Water Rule and keep poisoning families with lead from their water.

But — with a razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives, and just 50 days remaining to pass it through both chambers of Congress — we can stop this from happening.
