Dear Neighbors,

I hope you had a great Saint Patrick’s Day! 

As long as I can remember, my mother, a proud Duffy, made St. Patrick's Day a truly special occasion. With her nearly 80% Irish heritage, she instilled in us a deep appreciation for our lineage. Our family's immigration story is one of resilience; my great-grandparents fled Ireland and arrived in the United States around 1885. Their journey, along with many other immigrants, laid the foundation for a strong family, and enriched our country by bringing unique perspectives and skills. It’s a day to celebrate our heritage and the contributions of our ancestors to the United States.

Also on Monday, the House returned to a 67-67 tie after the March 11 special election in Roseville.

Committee co-chairs are rotating gavels to hear bills as we work toward balancing a budget that puts middle-class, working people first. All legislation must clear two key deadlines for bills to make it into the budget; April 4 and April 11. We are working expeditiously to get the job done, just as Minnesotans have elected us to do.

Yesterday, I presented legislation I’m carrying for our local firefighters. HF 2395 was brought to me at the request of two fire relief associations, Apple Valley and Inver Grove Heights, who would like to begin paying out more to firefighters from their pension fund.

Town Hall Reminder

I’m writing with a friendly reminder to join Senator Maye Quade, Rep. Bierman, and me for our town hall meeting this Saturday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. We’ll gather at Falcon Ridge Middle School to field questions, gather input, and listen. I hope to see you there!
