On the left is the aeronautical depiction of one of these spirals. On the right is our current ActBlue snapshot - its campaign equivalent. We still have time to become the plane that breaks out of the spiral but that window is rapidly closing.
Here’s how a campaign death spirals: first fundraising slows, then we run out of the money needed for ‘spending money to make money,’ then field/GOTV grinds to a halt, and then we are in a dire spot come E-day.
Presently we find ourselves at extreme risk of heading into such a spiral. Unless we can make a rapid course correction our fundraising situation could drive a cascading set of budget shortfalls and result in the campaign equivalent of ‘mechanical failure’ that would lead to our demise.
In all departments outside of fundraising things are going beyond great and we have soooo much momentum. But we cannot be complacent now. This is exactly when we need to jack up fundraising and get out the vote efforts into overdrive.
A course correction is achievable and we have 13 days to break out.
