The Tongass National Forest in Southeast Alaska is an ecological treasure
— and Donald Trump is threatening to destroy it.

For decades, the logging industry has clamored to cut down the Tongass —
and on Day 1 in office, Trump repealed logging protections to let them do
just that.^2 Now, one of the most important forests on Earth is at risk of
being laid to waste.

And Congress? They’re asleep at the switch while Trump and his billionaire
buddy, Elon Musk, wreak havoc on our climate protections. It’s time we
wake Congress up.

The Tongass is more than just a forest — it’s a lifeline. With trees more
than 1,000 years old, the Tongass is a critical carbon sink that pulls
pollution from our atmosphere to fight the climate crisis.

It’s a life-sustaining part of the ancestral homelands of the Tlingit and
other Indigenous peoples. Eleven Southeastern Alaska tribes opposed
repealing Tongass protections the last time Trump was president — but he’s
overruling them and trampling Indigenous sovereignty once again.^3

The Tongass is also the world’s largest intact old-growth temperate
rainforest. John, simply put — the Tongass is something we
cannot afford to lose.

By sending a letter today, you can make it loud and clear to your
legislators that we refuse to let corporate greed destroy our future. Our
leaders must choose: Stand with the people and the planet, or side with
the corporations that seek to exploit it.
