Dear John,
The Covid-19 pandemic has been doubly painful for an Iranian economy already under debilitating U.S. economic sanctions. While much of the international community has called for the easing of sanctions amid the outbreak, the Trump administration has refused to do so.
Instead, even as the U.S. is gripped by the virus and widespread protests, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is intent on ratcheting up tensions this summer and restoring UN sanctions on Iran.
Will the coronavirus outbreak be the straw that breaks the back of Iran’s economy? How are the Iranian people faring under the multiple crises faced by the country? And what does the crisis mean for U.S.-Iran relations?
Join NIAC for an expert panel to discuss these questions and more virtually on June 9th.
