Dear
Friend,
I am
writing to you in a time of deep grief, heavy pain, and powerful
uprising. My heart goes out in particular to our members in the Black
community, along with my commitment to act, every day, to disrupt and
dismantle white supremacy. As a reproductive justice organization,
URGE recognizes that our movement was started by Black women, and that
we cannot have reproductive justice without Black
liberation.
This
Friday, we hope you will join us to learn more about how you can
support Black liberation at our Reproductive
Justice Townhall: Defending Black Bodies.
This event was created by and
will be led by Black Reproductive Justice leaders but is open to ALL
who want to support Black liberation and reproductive
justice.
URGE is
made up of, and led by, young folks, Black people, non-Black people of
color, queer, trans, and nonbinary folks and people living at the
intersections of those identities. We feel the pain of systemic racism
and gender-based violence. We fear for our loved ones whose lives are
threatened just by existing. And we stand with #BlackLivesMatter and
the Movement For Black Lives in working to dismantle white supremacy
and white supremacist systems like the police, prisons, and
jails.
May
George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, and the
countless Black lives lost to white supremacist violence rest in
power, and may their loved ones receive the peace and justice they
deserve. Please take care of yourselves and each other, and keep
fighting for our shared vision of reproductive justice, liberation,
and future where we all can thrive.
?

Solidaridad,
