John,
Yesterday, entrenched incumbent, Eliot Engel, said “If I didn’t have a primary, I wouldn’t care” in regards to calls for peaceful protests in New York.
Black communities are in pain and people are rightfully taking to the streets to protest police brutality and murder. And Eliot Engel just said that he doesn’t care about his community — that is absolutely outrageous.
We need more leaders on the federal level who understand what Black people have to endure every day in this country. Who understand the agony, pain, and anxiety of fearing institutions that are supposed to protect and serve.
Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush are two transformative Black leaders who have lived experience with police harassment and brutality and we need them in Congress.
If you cannot afford to make a contribution to Cori and Jamaal today, we understand and we’d like to thank you for everything you’re doing to power our movement for justice.
You can sign up to volunteer for Cori Bush’s campaign here and Jamaal Bowman’s campaign here. Thank you for supporting Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush today. We need their leadership in Congress.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
