Dear VCC Community,

Last week reminded me of what we are up against. At the US Senate confirmation hearings for Secretary of HHS, Bobby Kennedy Jr. was viciously attacked for his previously stated views on vaccines. The most vicious attacks came from Senators who have received millions in funding from the pharmaceutical industry. Here in Canada, we are witnessing similar attacks by those aligned with the pharmaceutical industry in response to Alberta’s Report on their ‘COVID-19 Pandemic Response’.

These vicious attacks are no surprise to those of us who have dared to question vaccine safety and necessity, or declare vaccine injury. We know all too well the efforts to silence, belittle, shame, discredit and punish anyone who threatens pharma’s cash cow – the vaccine ideology. Facebook memories reminded me that in 2019 anti-vaxxers were listed in the top 10 of global health threats.

The pharmaceutical industry and their minions in government, health agencies, colleges, professional bodies, medical journals, and even political cartoonists are pulling out the stops to deny vaccine injury. I suggest these are the death cries of an animal that has been cornered and is fighting for its life. Trust in the medical establishment is at an all-time low, and their unwillingness to acknowledge their faults was on full display during the confirmation hearings. 

I have to admit that I was disappointed in Kennedy’s response to the attacks. In fact, I wrote an essay on how I wished Bobby would have responded. (https://tedkuntz.substack.com/p/are-you-anti-vaccine) I wish that Bobby, in response to the question – ‘Are you anti-vaccine?’ would had made statements like – 

“Am I anti-vaccine? If questioning vaccine safety, efficacy and necessity is anti-vaccine, then yes, I am anti-vaccine. The use of this term has been weaponized to prevent responsible scrutiny of a medical intervention that has no safeguards in place to ensure it does what it is purported to do and does it safely. I am science based. I am evidence based. I am fact based. I refuse to accept the religion of vaccination. I refuse to accept its merits on faith. I refuse to forsake accountability out of fear of being labeled an “anti-vaxxer”.”

But Bobby didn’t say these things. Instead he defended himself by saying that he is not anti-vaccine and supports vaccines like measles and polio and HPV.

His response reinforced the reality of our role. We can’t look to others to save us. We can’t look outside of ourselves to solve this. We have to be the change. What I realized even more fully after listening to Bobby’s responses is that you and I are freer to tell the truth than those in the political, medical, and mainstream media. It seems that those who need to ‘dance with the beast’ have to compromise in some way.  You and I are not restricted in our truth telling. 

I believe that for change to happen the truth must be told. Softening the truth to be more palatable to those who are ideologically, mentally or emotionally unable to hear the truth is not the way forward. It’s time to speak loudly, firmly, assertively and without reservation. This is our time.
