Friend, yesterday I took to the streets to listen.

What I heard was grief and anger toward the egregious injustices Black people face in this country every day at the hands of law enforcement. Injustices born out of the systemic inequities that have been at the foundation of this country since its inception.

Our country is expressing its pain and demanding that our leaders finally take action. I understand that my role as a local leader is to listen and then amplify the voices of my community. We also need leaders in our federal government who will do the same.

I am running to be one of those leaders. To champion systemic change for our communities, and for our country. That includes a people-centered policing policy that bans the use of facial recognition technology and creates a national database of officers who have been decertified or fired for misconduct, while also requiring that all officers undergo implicit bias training. But I need your support to do it.
