The Lincoln Project

Friend,

Wondering why Elon went after USAID?

Just take a look at this headline:

In a shocking twist, Elon Musk shut down USAID, the government entity that provides assistance to countries recovering from disaster, not to make our budget “more efficient,” but to save his own ass.

Elon’s company, Starlink, was under investigation after a Russian drone was shot down in Ukraine and found with a Starlink terminal link inside. The company had months earlier provided Starlink terminals to Ukraine to assist them in the war. So naturally, this raised a few eyebrows.

It could either mean that A, Elon’s tech is nowhere near as secure as he says it is, kind of like how his “self driving” cars are nowhere near as safe as he says they are (likely).

Or B, Elon tossed a line to his old buddy Putin, and was trying to assist him in his genocide of Ukraine (also likely).

Regardless, this investigation created a conflict of interest. Elon destroyed thousands of jobs and screwed over millions of people in need of disaster relief just so his company’s name wouldn’t be dragged through the mud.

We know this is a foreign concept to Elon and Trump, but the U.S. Government’s primary mission shouldn’t be doling out favors to billionaires. It exists to benefit the American people. And so far, this administration has not made a singular move that benefits the American people.

If people don’t know by now, they should. Trump and Elon are not here to help us, they’re here to help themselves. While one hand of this administration is pretending to get real things done, the other hand is pulling strings to keep these conmen and criminals out of trouble.

From the beginning, we’ve been watching the other hand. And that’s what we’ll be doing for the next four years. Help us keep an eye on the corruption and relay it to the voters >>
