Dear John, our country needs to ask itself a serious question:
Why is an unelected billionaire like Elon Musk trying to gain access to millions of Americans' personal financial data—and control over a $6 trillion payment system?
And if Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is truly operating in the public interest, then why the secrecy? Why does he refuse to answer basic questions about what his team is doing with your data?
Just this week, the Treasury Department reached an agreement to limit the sharing of sensitive financial information with Musk’s DOGE. Thanks to a court order, only a small number of Musk’s allies—Tom Krause and Marko Elez—have “read-only” access to records. But here's the question: Why are any of Musk's allies involved at all?
This operation is dangerously opaque and raises serious concerns about your privacy. Musk's allies, now working for the Treasury, are in charge of reviewing over a billion payments annually and overseeing trillions of dollars. These are records that hold deeply personal details—your financial history, tax information, Social Security records, and much more.
Despite claims that only two of Musk’s allies have access to this data, we still don’t know what’s really happening behind closed doors. Are these records being properly protected, or is this a massive breach of privacy for millions of Americans?
Americans deserve transparency.
Musk is meddling in systems that protect your personal information and shape the future of government efficiency—without ever being elected. Why does he need this power? And why should we trust someone so willing to skirt accountability?
It’s time to ask the tough questions and demand the protection of our personal data. Join the fight to hold Musk and his cronies accountable. The future of our financial security and privacy depends on it.
In Solidarity,
The No Dem Left Behind Team
