The confirmation process for President Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees continues, but we’ve had two more critical successes with the U.S Senate approval of Scott Bessent for Treasury Secretary and Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense – and congratulations are in order. 

As Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, I know we are facing tremendous challenges to Americans’ prosperity and financial security, and I look forward to working closely with Secretary Bessent on key economic priorities, including extending the Trump tax cuts that benefited Americans of every income bracket. 

And despite the Left’s attacks, I’m confident that Secretary Hegseth is the right person for the job at a time when threats to our national security are growing increasingly complex and unpredictable. 

More than ever, we need a military ready for engagement from every angle, and Pete Hegseth will be an agent for change. He will replace failed Biden Era policies of appeasement with those of carefully applied force.
