Last week, I introduced the Tariff Transparency Act, my first official bill as a U.S. Senator.
My bill will:
Require a study on the impact of tariffs on consumers, businesses, and American jobs
Force the Trump Admin to release the study’s findings to the public
The President has said these disastrous tariffs will only cause a minor disturbance on the American people. Time for him to prove it.
Folks, I introduced this bill because this administration cannot be trusted to tell us the truth.
That’s why I’m counting on you to sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of my Tariff Transparency Act to demand accountability for Maryland’s working families.
Donald Trump is already lying about the impact of his self-inflicted trade war, calling it “a minor disruption.”
While the impact may be “minor” for second-generation billionaires like him, it’s a major problem for Maryland’s working families. For the people who work overtime to put food on the table.
Trump doesn’t care about those folks. But I do.
I know what it’s like to be a busy working parent, sitting at the kitchen table with a pen and paper, tracking expenses, carefully planning a budget, making sure the bills are paid.
When my daughter was young, I couldn’t have afforded to pay double or triple for basic necessities like food, energy, housing, cars, and medications. However, that could soon be reality in Trump’s America.
I can’t shut down this senseless trade war by myself. But I’ll fight to pass legislation like the Tariff Transparency Act, so you can make the best choices for your family’s future.
That’s why I’m asking for your help elevating this important legislation and supporting my first bill in the Senate. Can I count on you to become a citizen co-sponsor today?
Thank you for your support,
