Friend, the past 57 days of the Trump administration have been horrifying. The administration has moved, at an alarming speed, to strip away rights, dismantle institutions, target communities, and ramp up deportations. Though unelected, the richest man in the world has been given unprecedented power to make decisions about our government and its workforce. But this isn’t the whole story. People across the country are standing up. Community members of all political stripes are filling town halls, angry as they watch the parade of horrors unfold. They're outraged that Congress would rather fund raids in schools, churches, and hospitals instead of critical programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and student loan relief. The energy is real, and it’s only growing. At NILC, we are right where we need to be – equipping our communities with vital Know Your Rights resources, fighting back against unjust policies, preparing legal strategies, and demanding accountability at all levels of government. Friend, it might not always feel like it, but please remember: the power of the people is stronger than the people in power. The attacks on our communities will continue but the important thing is that we refuse to back down. We must and will keep pushing back, fighting smarter and harder, for immigrant communities and for justice. Kica Matos President National Immigration Law Center
