Governor Gordon Praises Hard Work, Efficiency and Massive Return on Investment of Wyo’s Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute
Governor Mark Gordon is praising Wyoming’s *Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute [ [link removed] ]*(EORI) for its hard work, efficiency, and massive return on investment to the taxpayer. Located in Casper and created by legislation that established the Enhanced Oil Recovery Commission (EORC), the EORI is dedicated to improving and enhancing oil recovery according to the recently released report *"20 years of Collaborative Work with the Wyoming Oil and Gas Industry"**.* [ [link removed] ]
“Since its creation in 2004, the EORI has returned over ten dollars for every dollar provided by the state,” Governor Gordon said, “This means for a total investment over 20 years of $53 million, EORI has generated tax revenue of $558 million to the state and Wyoming citizens while keeping overhead low.”
Governor Joins Wyoming in Mourning the Passing of Former U.S. Senator Al Simpson, Orders Flags Lowered to Half-Staff
Governor Gordon and all of Wyoming mourn the loss of former United States Senator Al Simpson, who passed away Friday, March 14.
The Governor has ordered both the U.S and Wyoming flags to be lowered immediately to half-staff. They will remain at half-staff until sundown March 31, when services for Senator Simpson will be held in his hometown of Cody.
* *Simpson will lie in state at the Wyoming Capitol in Cheyenne with public access March 27 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. and March 28 from 7 **a.m. – 2 p.m. *
* *The Simpson family will host a free public celebration of life at the University of Wyoming's Arena Auditorium at 11 a.m. on March 29.*
Simpson was elected to the United States Senate in 1978. He served as both Minority and Majority Whip until his retirement in 1997. He previously served in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 1965 until 1977. In 2022 Simpson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for *his years of public service and statesmanship. Students join Governor for 'Wyoming Wednesday' bill signing

What began as a barber shop conversation about division in public life became a school effort at Cheyenne's Triumph High School to encourage community spirit and unity, and to spread that message statewide. The students' efforts *culminated in the passage of House Bill 246 - Wyoming Wednesday,* [ [link removed] ] which encourages Wyoming citizens to wear brown and gold on the second Wednesday of every month. Governor Gordon signs bill to provide funding for expanded property tax refund program
Governor Mark Gordon signed five bills on Monday, March 17, including a bill that sets the order in which multiple property tax exemptions will be applied to those homeowners who qualify for more than one exemption.
*House Bill 279 - Property tax exemptions-order of application [ [link removed] ] *also includes $10.5 million to fund the property tax refund program in 2025. Originally included in Governor Gordon’s supplemental budget, funding for the program was a priority of the Governor entering the session and was added to the bill late in the legislative process.

Scouting America delivers report to Governor Gordon
Scouting America
Twenty members of Scouting America, including 3 Eagle Scouts, met with Governor Gordon recently to present their annual scouting report to the Governor. They presented several specific projects they are working on to better their communities, and learned about how state government works.
